Feeling worthy during the holidays
+ what to do in case you did something you regret!
Hey brother
Hopefully you’ve also ate delicious food, watched lots of TV/played video games (old school gamer?) and had some type just to relax.
(In case you wonder I’m 6 movies deep into the Harry Potter marathon)
This time between Christmas and New Years Eve can be a great moment to rest and take time for yourself to charge up.
It’s a great opportunity for that, but I also know that it can be a time where you don’t have the typical stuff keeping you busy.
Work, traveling to and from work and the normal errands.
This can put you out of your normal routine and have you feeling bad about yourself. I know I did (and still have moments where I feel unworthy).
So without going too deep into it, let’s take this time to feel worthy without that external success.
What is something you never get the time to do?
Now is the time to do that!
(myself I picked up an old boxing game from my PS3, played 2 hours yesterday and will likely play a bit over the weekend too).
In case you did something you regret, here is what I would recommend:
If you woke up feeling shameful and guilty because you watched porn or didn’t do the journaling exercise you said you would then remember that these feelings of shame and guilt are valid feelings - all they want is to be felt.
I know the mind can have a strong pull, but the shameful and guilty feelings will only have you stuck in cycles. I’ve had this pattern myself enough times to tell you that the way out is through self-compassion.
Now, I’m not saying self-indulgence (doing it again), but self-compassion.
You can use this affirmation to help you get into it.
“I see that I feel shame and guilt, and that’s ok. It doesn’t mean I’ve done something wrong. It’s just feelings that need attention.”
From here you can reflect about why it happened.
Then forgive yourself, I like the mantra from Ho'oponopono:

Repeat this mantra to yourself and mean it!
After this I like to go for a walk, do some breathwork or something else that will ground myself and get my mind elsewhere.
That’s it from me to you today.
Take care,
Edin
