Becoming shameless
Imagine showing the world the REAL you
and being loved for it.
My man, happy Tuesday.
Today I have my first boxing training since I arrived here in Georgia.
If there is anything we know about Georgians, it’s that they can fight very well (2 current UFC Champions are from here).
Todays topic is becoming shameless.
First, what do you know about shame?
Do you know what the word means?
It stems from the Old English word “Scamu” and we can translate it into “to cover” as covering oneself being a common expression of shame.
So how can we use this to become shameless?
When I was about 5, there was an incident where I let my younger sister touch me downstairs. My mother saw it and immediately told me it was bad and I should never do anything like this again.
This memory of me being a young child exploring was one of my most shameful ones and it kept with me all until about my mid 20’s,
when during a live event we were challenged to go out to the street and tell a stranger something we never told anyone.
I took the opportunity and approached a young couple. The girl was about to leave, but the guy stayed and it was like he felt I had something very deep to share.
How do you think he responded?
He said
“Yes, and then?”
I could not believe it
For 20 years I had been carrying this shame and thought it was the worst thing that could happen.
Then when I uncover it, it’s not a big deal at all.
Most likely, you’re carrying some shame about your own story that you believe is horrible.
And also, most likely, if you told this story to someone, you would be surprised about how accepted you would feel because again… most likely, this story is not a big deal.
Becoming shameless:
1) If shame means to “cover”, then to become shameless we need to “uncover”
2) What are you ashamed about, meaning, what are you covering up?
3) Tell this to someone. It can be a stranger or someone close to you (likely someone who is on a journey of spiritual journey too)
4) ???
5) Profit
I find that by doing this, I keep loving myself more and as I’m loving myself more, others seem to be doing it too.
It’s like the love was there, always.
And it just waited for us to receive it.
Your guy,
Edin
